This variety was already recognized in the mid-nineteenth century as one of the most typical and representative of the original varieties of Friuli. It is certainly a very ancient grape variety, once very widespread, and we even find it described in the "Vitigni friulani udinesi" by Acerbi. It is an emphatically dry, robust wine, with a wide and fresh aroma, featuring a bouquet with strong notes of apple, pear, nectarine, and apricot, with a dry, tannic taste that gives an almond finish with hints of wildflowers.
