No, our coconut fiber dish sponge is designed to be completely scratch-free. Coconut fiber and crushed fruit shells effectively work on encrustations and stubborn dirt without damaging the Teflon coating of pans or delicate ceramic and glass surfaces, making it a major breakthrough in caring for your utensils. How long does it last before it starts to fall apart, and how is it disinfected? A single sponge lasts an average of 1–2 months, depending on how intensively it is used. To prevent it from falling apart prematurely, it is essential to wring it out well after every use. For hygiene, you can safely disinfect it by boiling it or placing it in the top rack of the dishwasher: it will be clean again without the fiber part separating from the cellulose. Is it really 100% plant-based, or is there plastic in the abrasive part? This eco-friendly dish sponge is made exclusively from natural, plant-based materials. Unlike many commercial sponges whose rough part is mixed with polyester, our product is 100% plastic-free. Once it has reached the end of its useful life, if used with biodegradable soap it can be disposed of in organic waste or home compost because it is completely biodegradable. Does it clean grease well, or does it require too much detergent compared with synthetic sponges? The highly porous structure of the cellulose creates a rich lather even with little soap, especially if you use solid detergent. Coconut fiber scrubs grease excellently without requiring excessive amounts of product. Food residue does not easily remain trapped between the fibers, making rinsing easier and keeping the sponge clean. Does the natural dish sponge smell moldy after a few days? The bad smell is caused by bacteria that multiply in the moisture of dense synthetic sponges. The airy weave of coconut fiber and the breathable properties of cellulose allow the sponge to dry much faster. If stored in a dry place after use, it does not give off a damp odor and remains hygienic much longer than traditional alternatives.
