The Valpolicella Classico Superiore Ripasso DOC Strada Campiona from Cantina Nepos Villae represents a dedication from the Ruffo family to the ancient Roman road where the Quintarelli Ruffo villa and the family estates have existed for centuries. A connecting route between valleys, that of Negrar and that of Valpantena. A furrow created by man and never lost. The Strada Campiona is referenced in ancient medieval maps, particularly in that of 1746 by engineer Cristofoli, which highlights its importance and value for the territory. It is somewhat a symbol of a journey, that of the Ruffo and Nepos Villae family, through the centuries and into the future, among vineyards, wine, and the authentic Valpolicella. CHARACTERISTICS Production area: Negrar Valley, classic Valpolicella. Blend: Corvina gentile, Corvina grossa, Rondinella, Molinara. Harvest: Hand-picked with grapes placed in boxes in the second week of September. Part of the grapes has undergone withering for a period of 40 days. Crushing: Gentle in a horizontal press at low temperature. Fermentation: Vinification in steel at controlled temperature and subsequent light cryomaceration with manual punching down. Aging: After red vinification, the wine is passed over the pomace of the Amarone from the following year, applying a period of contact with the skins of about 30 days. After performing the Ripasso technique, the must is drained and moved to aging in large French oak barrels from Allier and Troncais for 18 months. Then the wine is allowed to age in bottle for about 6 months before being released to the market. Alcohol volume: 14.5%.
