The Syrah IGT Lazio 2022 from the Vinea Domini line is a red wine coming from a historic vineyard from across the Alps, the result of the cultural exchange between European nations that began with the expansion of the Roman Empire and which today allows us to appreciate the complexity of this type of grape in the territory of the Castelli Romani. This grape variety has origins in Persia, in the city of Shiraz, from where it arrived in our country in antiquity, through the city of Syracuse. DNA analyses have indicated affinities with the varieties from Trentino-Alto Adige Teroldengo and Lagrein, although the greatest expression of varietal features is obtained in the central-southern regions of Italy, as well as in the Rhône Valley, California, South Africa, and Australia. Varietal Origin: A grape variety native to the Middle East, it is now more commonly found in the Rhône valley, California, and Australia, where it is called Shiraz. Genetically, Syrah is generous in terms of yield and cluster size. Soil type: volcanic in nature and tuff clay. Training system: spurred cordon. Exclusive vineyard practices: Leaf removal is carried out during flowering to provoke flower drop and thinning of grapes during veraison. Clusters are exposed to the sun to favor aromatic synthesis. Exclusive winemaking practices: Cold pre-fermentation maceration at 10°C for 12 hours to favor the dissolution of aromatic compounds. Numerous pump-overs and délestage during alcoholic fermentation. Immediate racking. Year: 2022. Alcohol percentage: 13.5%.
