Alto Adige Meranese Schiava DOC "Fürst" from Cantina Merano is a complex, delicate and juicy red wine with fine tannins. Thanks to the restrained use of wood during ageing, the red Schiava “Fürst” has nothing to fear from comparison with an excellent Pinot Noir. Above the village of Lagundo, nestled like a true jewel, lies a special south-facing vineyard with a long and extraordinary history. For generations, vines of the native Schiava grape variety have been cultivated on this steep slope using the traditional pergola system, among old stone walls, and over the years they have put down deep roots. Grape varieties: 100% Meranese Schiava Soils: light, permeable and of morainic origin Vine age: 15-45 years Winemaking: alcoholic fermentation at a controlled temperature takes place in small stainless-steel vats. This is followed by malolactic fermentation and one year of maturation in 5-hectolitre tonneaux wooden barrels and small stainless-steel tanks.
