The Alto Adige Meranese Schiava DOC "Furst" from Cantina Merano is a complex, delicate, and juicy red wine with fine tannins. Thanks to the careful use of wood during aging, the red Schiava "Furst" does not fear comparison with an excellent Pinot Noir. Above the town of Lagundo, nestled like a true jewel, lies a special vineyard, south-facing, with a long and extraordinary history behind it. For generations now, on this steep slope, the traditional pergola system has been used to cultivate vines of the indigenous Schiava variety, which over the years have taken deep root among old stone walls. Grape variety: 100% Meranese Schiava. Soils: light, permeable, and of morainic origin. Age of the vines: 15-45 years. Winemaking: Controlled temperature alcoholic fermentation takes place in small stainless steel tanks. Followed by malolactic fermentation and aging for one year in 5-hectoliter wooden tonneaux and small stainless steel tanks.
