Freiherr Merlot Riserva Alto Adige DOC 2019 from Cantina Merano is a spicy, full-bodied red wine with high ageing potential, capable of standing alongside the great names in its category. On sheltered old vines at the foot of Montefranco, small-berried grapes of the highest quality and excellent phenolic ripeness thrive. The cordon-trained vines are worked by hand, and the grapes are individually selected. Only a few bunches, those with the smallest berries, remain on the vines. The hand-harvested bunches then mature in new and used barriques for a truly great wine. Grape varieties: 100% Merlot Soils: light, permeable and of morainic origin Vine age: 15 years Winemaking: fermentation takes place in contact with the skins for approximately 10-15 days; this is followed by biological malolactic fermentation. After 16 months of maturation in barriques and oak barrels, the wine is bottled. Alcohol content: 14.50% vol Total acidity: 5.1 g/l Residual sugar: 2.6 g/l
