The wine of Visciole is one of the typical products of the Marche region, particularly of Montefeltro. The product, already mentioned by the biographer of Duke Federico II da Montefeltro, is obtained from the fermentation of visciole cherries with sugar. Visciole are a very old variety of wild sour cherry, characterized by an intense flavor, not too sweet, with an intriguing almond aftertaste that creates a pleasant fresh and tart sensation. The ingredients are placed inside closed containers for fermentation at a controlled temperature and then, subsequently, the wine from the previous year is added. The resulting mixture is left to rest for at least four years before proceeding to bottling. This is how the inimitable wine of Visciole from Podere Casella Muzighin is born! The wine of visciole obtained is clear, consistent, deep ruby red in color, with a very intense aroma of visciola in spirit. There are also mineral hints of graphite, chocolate, and dog rose. On the palate, it is sweet, warm, soft, with great freshness and good tannicity. In the finish, a pleasant note of Saronno amaretto can finally be perceived. The name could only remind one of the inspirer and the one who has always produced the wine of visciole for the family, namely Serafino Pizzoni. With the addition of the initial article “Il Serafino,” it becomes a name that alone evokes the sensations experienced when tasting the product: feelings of warm serenity and pleasantness. Alcohol: 13.5% vol. Serving temperature: 14 -18°C.
